For everyone

  • Changed:
    • Trimming of image alt tags now happens at 417 characters; this is to account for Twitter’s ambiguous 420 “maximum” value, where TSF may add three dots for ellipsis.
    • Random theme headers are no longer considered for Open Graph images. This sporadic behavior, albeit fine for social sharing, took up about 10% of TSF’s processing time.
  • Fixed:
    • Resolved a regression where the RGB hex prefix # was missing on output. Both on the front end and in the settings.
    • Resolved a regression where an unassigned homepage would not be recognized as the homepage.
    • Resolved an issue where the contentSize markup for Logo was of type integer, which should’ve been of type string (as an integer).
    • Resolved a fatal error when an image with an alt tag over 420 characters was used for social meta-sharing. Props Sageth for reporting this.
    • Resolved an issue where WordPress Core sitemaps were no longer augmented.
    • Resolved an issue where the screen settings were no longer visible on the SEO Settings page.

For developers

  • Added:
    • Pool tsf()->theme_color() is now available. You can use tsf()->theme_color()->get_theme_color() to get the meta theme-color hexadecimal value.
  • Changed:
    • TSF initializes all its hooks at init 0, from init 10.
      • To hook into WordPress’s sitemap providers, which are registered far too early, we had to move TSF’s initialization sequence. We used 0 for future-proofing since WordPress’s loading sequence became a combobulated mess, which shows no signs of stopping.
  • Improved:
    • Query caching is a tad optimized.
