In this update, we addressed a few issues our amazing users helped investigate. With that, we implemented better bbPress title support, and fixed a bug regarding WooCommerce and term-ID collisions.

We also increased the entropy for generating object caching keys, addressed some translation and RTL errors, and added a few new filters.

About bbPress title prefixes

With this update, we took bbPress’s code for generating titles, and implemented it in The SEO Framework.

For everyone

• Added:
  • We implemented bbPress’s title handler.
    • Note: Custom titles entered via The SEO Framework’s “Meta Title” entry will overwrite it for the current query, and any generation for sub-pages will therefore also be overwritten.
• Changed:
  • We exchanged the “About us” link for a “Pricing” link on the plugin activation page. Obviously, it’s much more applicable to our business.
• Fixed:
  • When WooCommerce is active, TSF no longer asserts archive queries as shop pages accidentally.
    • This issue might also occur when the blog page has the same ID as an archive, but this is less likely, since WordPress maintains a unique-ID system (with fail-secure).
  • The object cache keys for search queries are now based on a partial md5 output, rather than the first 10 characters of the search query, reducing chance of collision greatly by introducing numeric translations and considering the whole query.
  • The object cache keys for terms no longer use multibyte encoding, speeding up the key generation. This key now also allows a few more characters, reducing chance of collision slightly.
  • The prefixes for titles no longer append to the title reference-title (instead of prepending), causing the counters and placeholder to be slightly off when the post is marked private or protected with a password.
  • On RTL, the prefix handler for titles now considers the text direction for adding spaces.
  • On RTL, the homepage title floating input and placeholder are now responding to the Additions location correctly.

  • As always, we’ve added and removed some strings.
  • Introduced some previously untranslatable strings.

  • The sitemap debugger now shows the cache key generated, and whether that’s being used.
