In Extension Manager v2.2.0, we added a Google News sitemap to the Articles extension.

The gist

Get your news articles indexed ASAP with the Google News sitemap brought by the Articles extension for The SEO Framework. This sitemap populates automatically, and whenever you publish a new article, Articles automatically notifies Google News.

When your website is verified and recognized for Google News publishing, Google will display your news articles prominently within Google’s search carousel. This carousel is time-sensitive, which means that recent news entries are more likely to be displayed here.

How it works

When you annotate a page as a News Article type, Articles automatically fetches all inferred information from your page and outputs is as structured data in a hidden machine-readable script on your page and as an entry in the Google News sitemap. Google can then use and process this information.
